Typical Day

A typical day in the Toddler Class (2/3):

Open Free Play: After hand washing, children are invited to explore the stimulating activities in the classroom. Activities offered are painting, an art project, playdough, a sensory table, blocks or trains, a housekeeping/ dress-up area, a water table, small motor skill activities, etc.

Circle Time:  A short teacher-directed group time consists of a Finger-play flannel story/song and then a movement activity. It usually takes about 5 - 10 min. depending on the children's attention span and where they are in the school year.

Snack: After hand washing, students may enjoy a healthy snack prepared from home.

Outdoor/ Indoor Large Motor Time: This is when children are allowed to run freely, ride bikes (inside only), climb, play in the sandbox (outside only), play ball, roller skates, etc.  Exhilarating!

Good-Bye Time:  We end the day with a goodbye song and hugs.


A typical day in the Preschool Class (3-5): 

Greeting/ Circle Time:  After hand washing, children start the day with a hug or high five as they find/ trace their names before we gather for circle time to sing, listen to storytime, and introduce a new letter, number, or concept.  

Small-Group Activity/ Project:  Art and science projects and activities are open-ended and designed to meet the students where they are at. 

Open Free Play/ Center Activities:  After the small-group activity, children are invited to explore the stimulating activities in the classroom. Quiet Book, Dancing, or Sharing Time/ Goodbye Song:  We end the day by quietly looking at books, dancing with scarves/ balloons, or sharing with a designated student for the day, a goodbye song and hug or high five.
