Typical Day

A typical day in the Toddler (2/3) & Morning Preschool (3-5) Class:

Open Free Play: After hand washing, children are invited to explore the stimulating activities in the classroom. Activities offered are: Painting, an art project, playdough, sensory table, blocks or trains, house keeping/ dress-up area, water table, small motor skill activities, etc.

Circle Time:  A short teacher directed group time consists of Finger-play flannel story/song and then a movement activity. It usually takes about 5 - 10 min. depending on the children's attention span and where they are in the school year.

Snack: After hand washing and potty breaks, a nutritiously dense snack is served as children sit at the table to dine and socialize with one another.

Outdoor/ Indoor Large Motor Time: This is when children are allowed to run freely, ride bikes (inside only), climb, play in the sandbox (outside only), play ball, roller skates, etc.  Exhilarating!

Good-Bye Time:  We end the day with a good-bye song and hugs.



A typical day in the Afternoon Preschool (3-5) Class: 

Outdoor/ Indoor Large Motor Time:  We start the day getting our wiggles out. This is when children are allowed to run freely, ride bikes (inside only), climb, play in the sandbox (outside only), play ball, roller skates, etc. Exhilarating!

Lunch:   After hand washing and potty breaks, a nutritious cold lunch is served as children sit at the table to dine and socialize with one another.

Circle Time:  A short teacher directed group time consists of  story time, songs and movement related to the theme or topic of the week or month. 

Small Group Activity:  Small groups of children are "invited" to join in small group games or experiments when introducing math, science or early literacy. Activities are research-based and developmentally appropriate for the age of the children. We meet the child where he or she is at and play is fundamental.

Open Free Play: After small group, children may explore the stimulating activities in the classroom. Activities offered are: Painting, an art project, play-dough, sensory table, blocks or trains, house keeping/ dress-up area, water table, small motor skill activities, etc. 

Outside, Dance or Yoga Time:  A time to move and get some fresh air and stretch our bodies.

Good-Bye Time:  We end the day with a good-bye song and hugs.
